Run the Longest Streets in NYC (2015)
To overcome my dislike of long continuous stretches of road and experience firsthand a trip from the outer-boroughs to Manhattan I targeted every street at least 6.2 miles (10K) in length. I included a few other notable roadways that fell just short of the 10K mark such as Grand Concourse in the Bronx at 5.8 miles and Ft. Hamilton Parkway in Brooklyn at 5.5 miles. Some were continuous streets such as Broadway and Flatbush. Others were combo streets where the name changed but the thoroughfare continued uninterrupted such as Jamaica Ave which flows into East New York Ave in Brooklyn.
The longest streets by Borough:
BK - Bedford Ave is 10.5 miles
BX - Boston Road is 8.5 miles
MN - Broadway is 10.8 miles
QN - Northern Blvd is 13.4 miles
SI - Hylan Blvd is 13.9 miles
Of note Broadway from BX to MN is the longest continuous street in NYC at over 16 miles. And there is a “Broadway” in all five boroughs.
